NOTICE OF TOWN COUNCIL MEETING
Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Warrenton will hold their Regular Monthly Meeting Work Session on Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, at 9:00 AM in the Warrenton Town Hall Council Chambers (First Floor) located at 21 Main Street, Warrenton, Virginia. During this Work Session, the public hearing items listed below may be presented to the Council for discussion and questions, along with other items of Town business.
Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Warrenton will hold their Regular Monthly Meeting on Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, at 6:30 PM in the Warrenton Town Hall Council Chambers (First Floor) located at 21 Main Street, Warrenton, Virginia. The Town Council will hold a Public Hearing on the following items:
Ordinance 2026-14: An Ordinance to amend Chapter 8, Section 8-21: An Ordinance to approve a Town Code text amendment regarding municipal garbage and trash collection for commercial properties. The proposed ordinance removes the undefined "standalone professional services businesses" exception from Town Code. By striking this phrase, the amendment clarifies that all commercial properties, businesses, and organizations located outside of the historic district are responsible for securing their own private waste removal services.
Ordinance 2026-15: An Ordinance to amend Chapter 11, Section 11-19: An Ordinance to approve a Town Code text amendment to Chapter 11 Offenses - Miscellaneous, revising language pertaining to noise created by animals and building operations. The proposed ordinance amends Section 11-19(a)(7) to explicitly require Town Manager approval for building operations on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and federally-designated holidays, allowing conditions to be set to control site noise. It also corrects Section 11-19(a)(2) to ensure regulations regarding noise created by pets apply throughout the entire week.
Ordinance 2026-16: An Ordinance to amend Article VI, Sections 11-78 through 11-81: An Ordinance to approve a Town Code text amendment adding regulations related to the prohibition of expanded polystyrene containers. The proposed ordinance aligns with State Code § 10.1-1424.3 by making it unlawful for food vendors to dispense prepared food to customers in expanded polystyrene food service containers. Additionally, it establishes a process for the Town Council to grant one-year exemptions for undue economic hardship, outlines enforcement procedures including a $50 per-day civil penalty for continued noncompliance, and defines applicable terms.
People having an interest in the above are invited to participate in the hearing and state their opinion regarding the above issues. The public may also choose to submit written comments through the Town's website or by emailing citizencomment@warrentonva.gov during the public comment period, which will end at noon the day of the Public Meeting, October 13th, 2026. A copy of the full text of the proposed Ordinances, and the agenda materials is available in the office of the Town Manager of the Town of Warrenton located at Town Hall 21 Main Street, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
